| I will be trying to contact this doctor in the coming weeks. |
|
Background: Dr. Michael Stephanides trained under Dr. Laub Sr. at Stanford University and now practices in Nashville, Tennesee. He has done 10 surgeries solo and also has a partner who assists. |
| Procedure: Radial Forearm flap/Suitcase Handle combination. This procedure involves three stages. The first stage is the creation of a phallus using the suitcase handle pedicle flap. This is a flap created on the abdomen. I'm not too clear on the details yet. The second stage is the microsurgery for sensation. I'm not sure what nerves he is harvesting for this stage. The third stage is the urethral hookup. I'm not sure at what point tissue expanders are employed on the forearm to strech the skin. And I'm not sure what this streched skin and tissue are to be used as. I can guess that the tissue (and nerves and blood vessels) can be used to create a sensate glans (head) and/or the tissue and skin alone can create a urethral extension. |
|
Notes: There is minimal visible scarring on the forearm because of the use of tissue expanders and because the majority of donated tissue for the phallus comes from the abdomen. Only the glans (head) will have sensation. |
| Quotes from Source: "I have already had a consult with him and seen
some of his pics which were very impressive....He seems to be a very professional
doc. I am in the medical field BTW. Spent five years in college for what
I do. Anyway, I do know the human anatomy better than the average Joe. So I am strongly considering going with Stephanides." |
| This doctor will not see anyone until screened by Judy Van Maasdam in Palo Alto, California (650) 326-4645. The doctor also refuses to release publicly any photos of his work. They can only be seen during consultation. |
